Amadi Panorama Hotel is a luxurious four-star hotel in Amsterdam IJburg, with 67 spacious rooms across the top three floors and wide views over the IJmeer, IJburg's modern architecture and the Amsterdam skyline. Single to quadruple rooms, family rooms and suites make it a comfortable base for couples, families and city trips.

Our Story

From an idea on paper to a hotel above the water

The panorama begins with the ground beneath the hotel. IJburg is one of Amsterdam's newest districts, built island by island in the IJmeer. Its water, bridges, varied architecture and open horizons give this side of the city a character of its own.

Today the hotel looks out over a neighbourhood that grew from a twentieth-century plan into a lively part of Amsterdam-East, while a direct tram connection keeps the historic centre within easy reach.

  1. A city on the IJmeer

Architects Van den Broek and Bakema propose Stad op Pampus: a new district on islands between Zeeburgereiland and Pampus. Amsterdam chooses other expansion plans at the time, but the idea of building east into the water remains.

  2. Amsterdam votes on IJburg

A city referendum puts the new district at the centre of public debate. The threshold needed to stop the plan is not reached, so IJburg can proceed with added attention to its effects on nature.

  3. Landmaking begins

Work starts on the first phase: Steigereiland, Haveneiland and the Rieteilanden. Around 25 million cubic metres of sand are applied in layers, creating new ground in the shallow IJmeer.

  4. The first residents

The first residents move into homes on Haveneiland-West and the Grote Rieteiland. Low- and mid-rise blocks, self-build plots and floating homes begin turning the construction landscape into a neighbourhood.

  5. IJburg's first hotel opens

Amadi Panorama Hotel opens as IJburg's first hotel. Sixty-seven rooms fill the top three floors, with reception and the breakfast restaurant on the eighth floor overlooking the islands, water and city skyline.
